When I want the best pizza for dinner, I don’t go to Pizza Hut, I go to the Rosseau Bakery. When I want a good coffee, I don’t go to Tim Hortons or Starbucks, I go to Oliver Coffee. When I need lumber, I don’t go to Home Depot I go to South Parry or Muskoka Lumber.
When people need a job done right in Muskoka they come to me, Grayson Inch. As a young man, I struggled with schooling and taking the path I was “suppose” to take. Born to farmers on both sides of the family, beef cattle on my mother’s side and pig farmer/feed mill (Ben Inch Feed Inc.) on my father’s side. Hard work, working with my hands and being outdoors was bred into my DNA. Starting my first paying job at age 9 picking frogs for .10 cents a piece for my grandmother’s bait business. I learned to work long hours for literally cents. My teenage years I went through many odd jobs from grocery bagger, warehouse worker to making signs for big name companies like TD bank, McDonalds and many more. At the age of 17, I found my calling building homes, starting off framing in a subdivision in Orillia.
I tried the college route after a couple years of building but found out very quickly it wasn’t for me. I am very grateful for my decision of giving it a go though. I ended up meeting the love of my life, Meghan.
Meeting her would not only be the best thing that ever happened to me but shaped the rest of my life to where I am now. We fell in love and got married at a young age, which people thought we were crazy but I don’t regret a second of it. We now have two beautiful children that I’m so proud of.
Meghan’s father owned a construction company in Muskoka, based in Rosseau. He convinced me to come work for him for one summer. Now, 18 years later, here I am, a partner in a successful Muskoka business with my two brothers in law. A little side note, I failed welding class in high school but was taught properly when I decided to come work here by Uncle Larry and became one of the top 5 welders in Canada (self proclaimed). I now take pride in tackling any structural steel, septic installation, blasting, landscaping and being a part of the Muskoka culture.
On my free time I find enjoyment playing ice hockey, ball hockey and running. I love to compete and sweat. Most recently I have found a great passion in coaching. I’m the assistant coach of my son’s U11 Muskoka ROCK hockey team. But with all my hobbies, work duties and responsibilities there is nothing that compares to being a father. Family time is my number one priority.
There’s a lot more I could say to fill the blanks but in a short burst, this is me, Grayson Inch.
