Matt was born and raised in a small town north of Lake Superior where his love of the outdoors, and the north, began at a very young age. He is the son of an avid outdoorsman and spent countless hours in his father’s footsteps learning to live and play in the great white north. 

Keeping with the northern Ontario theme, he attended Laurentian University and graduated with an Honours degree in Sport and Physical Education. After graduation and spending a very brief time working and living in the city of Toronto, he left the province to head to the mountains and work at the beautiful Chateau Lake Louise. Alberta is where he met his gorgeous wife Shannon more than 20 years ago. Shannon’s great grandparents homesteaded on Pickerel Bay, Lake Joseph, just down the road from Rosseau Springs. Matt and Shannon have two wonderful sons who are now 5th generation in Rosseau, and they too share a love for the outdoors, nature, and northern Ontario. 

Throughout his life and education, Matt has learned and experienced the incredible importance of outdoor activity to one’s health; the benefits to mental, physical, and social wellbeing are invaluable which was a huge driving factor for his involvement in RSL. The use of the conservation first approach during proposed lot creation and a vast and safe trail system, to not only benefit future Rosseau Springs residents but the entire community as well, he also finds heartwarming. He truly hopes to one day walk his dog Grizzly through the development. 

For the last 22 years, Matt has been a proud part of a locally owned and family operated construction company based out of Rosseau.
